I can't really see bringing manufacturing back, mainly because we are used extremely low cost of goods and nobody will work as cheap as the Chinese, Indians, etc.However, I do see America creating a totally new mini economy like we did with the Internet.

Thirty years from now you may see the world dominated by Indian, Japanese, Chinese or some other nation's autumobiles and the US reduced to a lesser, and poorer status as we continue to try to maintain our rich lifestyle on outdated technology, or pay other nations for things we SHOULD HAVE been developing ourselves!

At some point the sprawl will be contained either through boundaries like Indian reservations (to the south of Phx) or simply too great of a distance from jobs to make people's commutes worthwhile -- which will jack up prices in places where people have already built, which means even more appreciation for home values.The big negative here is that these are cities in the desert, and if drought keeps going (a real possibility), then there might not be the natural resources there much longer that would sustain the population, which of course would mean people selling and moving out and losing a lot on their real estate investments.

I've got a friend who said that an indian casino is going to be built next door to his small neigborhood (50-60 homes in neighborhood) -- the casino property will be directly adjacent to the neighborhood (as-in sharing a common boundary line).
