Because there is no exact formula, it's good to make protesting an annual tradition. 

A small group of people have been trying to protest it during school district meetings, but it hasn't been successful.

Not sure what state you are in, but in Texas you can protest your valuation.

There are hundreds of thousands of small protests against the government every year that are often labor disputes that do not receive just treatment.

If you are protesting property taxes it may be better to let one of those firms do it for a %.

And I can send you a study my CPA gave me, which mentions quite a bit of case law where people tried to claim RE professional status, got audited, got punished badly, protested in court, and lost.

@Aaron HollingsheadI read a story about a landlord in Portland in a similar position that is being accused of "leading" masked protesters onto his street and essentially asking them to burn the place down bc he saw no alternative to his fate.For what its worth, you're not alone.
