It may have marks on it where the two halves of the hinge swing, but it shouldn't have notches or grooves.If the pin does have notches or grooves, you can try replacing the pin, if you can find a modern one of the same diameter.

@Keith Jourdan - I heard through the grapevine that the developer of those big, modern apartments on Main/Plymouth Road near Old Town is having a very difficult time filling that place up.I used to live on Mill st for 5 years lol.
