@Brian Adams In your opinion, would it work for a passive investor in a syndication on an apartment complex, in exchange for the money invested receive the syndicator's portion of tax write offs for the project instead of return of capital?

Because of the laws and different currencies I don’t think Refinancing my money out will work.

Now, I have a question about becoming a qualified intermediary for 1031 exchanges.

I already own a 50% stake in Property 2, so I would own 100% of Property 2 after the exchange.

Do keep reading and participating in the forums.You might also find a local, seasoned, successful real estate investor and see if s/he will allow to you to tag along and learn in exchange for offering some skill (accounting, carpentry, landscaping, etc) you can contribute ... or, general labour.

So far impressed but no money exchanged yet. 

The spread between the two locations and the forecasted rent rate and appreciation increase will help steer you in the right direction.But you are right there is risk involved, but a quick exchange on a forum is really not enough to comment on the potential danger vs ROI.
