Not only will this have to be disclosed but no buyer wants to take on a code violation issue that will most likely result in the property being gutted to the studs.It's important to remember that there is a not so fine line between being helpful - and making someone else's problems your own.

The newer seismic codes are overkill, IMO, as many have been lobbied for hard by Simpson; there are many homes on the sides of hills in LA from the 60’s that have no seismic retrofitting and are still standing.Before going too far down the path of retrofitting your CMU building I would make sure that it isn’t already filled with rebar and mortar, as well as bond beams.
