Mindy Jensen Flooding basement - what do you know about French Drains?

Perhaps is sits on an area that was an old local drainage and the ground is slightly more pervious allowing the local ground water to collect and move down gradiant until it hits this house's basement.One thing that puzzles me is the why the existing sump pump is not dealing with the issue.

It was strange to see large developments left half done.What I see in Houston is a super hot market that has the true investors sitting on the sidelines.I still don't know if Houston market is turning soft, but people are doing some crazy things.I would be very interested to see if anyone (investor, newbie, or agent) that does not believe Houston is in a bubble.

Using those numbers, factoring in tax of ~3000/year, insurance of 600 (will probably be higher), maintenance 10%, PM 10%, vacancy 10%, I'm sitting at about 500/month.
