I don't know what tile they were planning on using but the quote including a lot of things that didn't need to be done like re-doing trim work and painting.  

Not knowing anything about how much it costs to paint, I agree and fork over $1600 bucks.

From the looks of the home most of the work is sweat equity (paint, floors, minor sheetrock work in one room).  

Total plus sinks, updated cabinets, fixtures, tubs = 6K min.Paint: Everything needs painted inside and exteriour touched up.

Could use a fresh paint job and some new garage doors to give it some curb appeal.

Other than that, fresh paint does wonders.

In a house that price range, a professional paint job on the cabinets and some new knobs should suffice.

She was very upset that we had to paint over some because a previous owner had put up some horrid wallpaper and when it was removed the paneling was in too bad of shape to restore. 

I want to be able to get a 203k loan and do some of the work myself. work like flooring, tiling, painting, any finish carpentry, possibly drywall work, bathroom/kitchen cabinets, etc...These tasks do not require a license to perform.Is this something i will have to work out with the selected contractor?
