First time home buyer looking for a rental property as an investment

Posted

Hi Team,

I am Sneha and I live in California. I am in my late 20s and want to start by investing in real estate and building my passive income portfolio. I have just gone through some locations in the USA and want to explore rental property investment options in Kansas City.

I need some guidance on what criteria need to be considered in rental property, how can I analyze the market, and where can i find resources to analyze it.

Some of the criteria that I understood so far are as below.

1) Population Growth (where can we see the details about this?)

2) Job opportunities

3) How does renting work in this city (How can we check the vacancy rate in this city?)

4) Good neighborhoods etc. ( How do I decide on which place to target? This place is completely new to me, how to I figure out a safe and good neighborhood where I can rent out property easily?)

Looking for a good realtor and lender in kansas city Please do share any contacts if possible.

Can someone share details on above and how I kick-start my homework? Appreciate any help provided.

Regards

-Sneha

Hi @Lakshmi Sneha Kandukuri, you can select "Find An Agent" at the top ribbon of the BP website and connect with several agents in your desired target market. Make sure to ask questions on their experience and how they can equip you to be an out of state investor. A good agent should be able to connect you with a lender, property manager, and other key members of your investment team.
