Connecting with Local Investors & REI Community

Hi all,

I’m new to real estate investing and looking to connect with others who are active in the space — ideally local to Michigan, but open to anyone serious about this business.

I come from a background in home building/construction, and I’m now working to shift into the investment side. I’ve tried a few Facebook groups, but they’ve felt scattered and inconsistent. BiggerPockets and LinkedIn seem a lot more focused and trustworthy, so I’m hoping to start building real relationships here.

My goal is to take action and not get stuck in the cycle of “trying to learn everything” before doing anything. That said, I also have a family depending on me, so I need to be smart about how I get started and manage risk along the way.

I’m open to all types of connections — whether that’s silent investors looking to back local deals, or experienced investors/mentors who need a boots-on-the-ground partner to help source properties, run comps, visit sites, manage contractors, or handle local coordination. I’m eager to put in the work and gain experience while bringing real value to the table.

If you're active in Michigan (or just open to talking shop), I’d love to connect.

Hey @Hunter Keil, welcome to the BP Forum! While I'm not currently active in Michigan (I was last year), I love "talking shop" about REI! What type of properties are you seeking, SFR, 2-4 MF, or 5+ MF? What is your price range/down payment amount? Are you looking for turn-key properties or something along the lines of a "fixer upper"?

For a Metro Detroit contact, I'd highly suggest connecting with @Drew Sygit. He runs a PMC in Detroit and it top notch! He won't sugar coat anything for you!
