Why Most Agents Never Make Millions—and What the Top 1% Do Differently

I’ve worked with hundreds of agents over the years, and I’ll tell you straight—the ones who rise to the top and eventually make millions aren’t chasing quick commission checks. They’re building enterprises. They commit. They spend two solid years mastering their niche, dialing in their systems, and branding themselves so they stand out in a sea of sameness.

The problem? Too many agents want million-dollar results while running their business like a weekend side hustle. No SOPs. No KPIs. No CRM. No lead tracking. Just hope. I tell my agents all the time, “You’re not just an agent—you’re a franchise. Start acting like one.”

You can absolutely run this as a lifestyle business. That’s fine. But if you want true freedom and wealth—the kind where you eventually step back and it still pays you—you’ve got to treat it like a company from day one. I chose the enterprise path. Built the systems. Built the team. Now I get to focus on what I love—mentoring, investing, and creating.

And I’m proud to say some of my top agents are now top performers on platforms like BiggerPockets—because they chose to build, not dabble.

What’s been your biggest turning point in treating your real estate business like a real business?
