I am a 22 year old living in Gary,IN and I so desperatley watnt to get into real estate investing. I have been reading and researching for almost a year and im now mentally & financially ready to take the next step, the only problem is that I dont know what that is. i spoke with one of my mothers old friend (who is an investor) and he suggestes i start at a County tax sale . Well I registered  for the tax sale and im currently waiting for that next month. I really wanna get into Flipping houses or rental property but Gary,IN is so filthy , broke, and crime ridden it is ridicoulous (google it and it'll be on every top crime list in america) . I've seen what i believe to be some really good deals on the gary market but idk if it would sell because WHO WANTS TO MOVE IN A HOUSE IN GARY..... any suggestions or tips would be fine

Darrell, you should do some research online using Redfin and Zillow.Do a search for every home sold in Gary in the last 6 months.I think you would be surprised how many homes have sold or been rented.Go to an open house this weekend and see what type of properties are for sale and what the sellers have done to fix them up for that particular market.Talk to the agent about your plans to invest in Gary and get advice on which neighborhoods sell the best.
