What Bigger Pockets has meant for me

Bigger Pockets has been one of the most useful websites for business that I have ever seen. Not so much for getting direct access to capital, but more for finding out what drives both passive and active investors. You can’t lump all investors into the same category. Some are looking for long term opportunities and others may not be. I have learned a lot more from dealing with the members of the BP community than I ever would have in dealing with my local REI group or SBA group. A few months ago, I came across an opportunity to start a business other than real estate and could not find an adequate finance source to launch it. So I reached out and placed an ad on BP (which was quickly shut down for who knows) and that ad resulted in my introduction to many open minded business owners and consultants that have given me some of the best advice that I could have ever received. Like I stated on the BP site a few months ago, when everyone says no to your idea, maybe it is not a good idea. However, sometimes your idea needs more development. Although no one was interested in my business venture initially, I was able to get excellent advice from prominent professionals that have helped me to develop an idea that is more profitable and able to get venture capital funding. I am greatly thankful to my colleagues in BP and look forward to being able to become a more active contributor to the forum.
