Etiquette Question on Forum Posting

I am brand new to the site and still feeling my way around. I don't want to violate any of the rules - written and unwritten - so I would appreciate some advise.

What is the protocol for asking for a specific type of contact? For instance, if I was looking for a commercial broker in Southern California, what is the appropriate way to do that? Or is this site not the place for that?

Could I post the question and request responders to message me directly instead of replying to the post?

Any clarity would be great appreciated!
