How much do you offer the seller for a pre-forclosure purchase?

This is in addition to the closing price (all the monies needed to prevent foreclosure and take possession of the property).  One source said 1-2 k above closing price.  Another said 5-10 k above closing price.  But I can't seem to find a definite answer.  This is assuming there is enough equity in the spread, of course.  Thank you.

There is no set number. It is whatever you and the seller can agree on.
