New to town looking to buy a family home

Hello everyone, I've been in Jacksonville for about 3 weeks, my wife and I decided to purchase a 3+ bedroom 2+ baths family home. Our price range is around 150k. We've been looking at houses all this time but no luck, either a nice house in a bad neighborhood and vis versa. Any advice?
