Property taxes in florida
Hi all,
Somebody told me that I can buy the LLC that owns the property I want, that way I can keep the same property taxes as they are. Does anyone know anything about this?
Thank you in advance.
I live in Fort Lauderdale as well and have not heard of this particular strategy but I am going to follow along. It sounds like a good idea in theory.

Quote from @Jose Portal:No, that is not true. Property tax values are Not “updated” because of sale, like in some other areas of the country. Florida property values for taxes are updated Every Year, from area sales during the last quarter of the previous year.

@Jose Portal, that unfortunately is not true. Property taxes will be reassessed near the value in which you’ve purchased the home as a new buyer. I’m happy to answer any questions that you may have. I am a local to South Florida.

Another Question about taxes in florida- I understand that in Florida they base the taxes on a recent sale if there was one done the year before. Is this true?
I just bought a duplex in in Charlotte county and I received a "sales verification questionnaire" from the county property appraiser. Does anyone have experience with these- are there any pros or cons to filling this out?
Quote from @Ari Steinman:Hi Ari, this is correct. Let's say you bought a house today for X amount. The ad-valorem property taxes in 2024 will be based on X amount and you will get notice of that in November 2024. There is also another property tax that has nothing to do with your property value but can be based on special projects like flood mitigation, building a new police station, road restructuring, etc.
