Where are New York Investors?
CALLING ALL NEW YORKERS!!
I’ve been searching this site and it seems (I may be wrong) that there isn’t a large New York presence. Obviously it might be because it’s such an expensive market, but I was looking to meet up with a bunch of you to discuss investing and build deeper relationships!
I work as an agent and looking to invest in my first multi-family (16 units or above) and would like
To gain more knowledge from others or maybe even help you guys in some way.

@Account Closed try using meetup.com to find local real estate investor association clubs. This is where you can find like minded individuals. Not sure of the New York market, but assuming there are some REIA clubs for you to attend and network with others. Good luck

@Anthony Madia I am originally from Long Island. I moved to Texas to be able to invest and build my portfolio. Very difficult to do living there as I’m sure you are aware. Good luck on your adventures.
@Josh Miller thank you Josh!
@Tj Hines thank you!
@Account Closed I'm a New York investor i do fix and flips and recently looking to acquire buy and hold deals. I am in Rockland County and my brother is also a realtor. i would be interested in discussing potential deals if you have any or just networking for the purpose of building relationships. DM me if interested. Thanks!

@Anthony Madia I’m from Staten Island but my exposure to real estate is through REITs. All the NY investors are probably too busy fighting to evict deadbeat tenants who have more rights than the landlord😜 or perhaps they’re busy fighting the city over something that wouldn’t even be an issue in most other places. If/when I buy another physical property (other than the one I live in) it would NOT be in NY.
I like to nose around on BiggerPockets because its one of the few forums I’ve seen where people actually know what they’re talking about- there’s always something to learn on here.

I live in NY but invest out of state, both passively and actively. I do have a few investments in NY but I'm done here until we get new management. Population is shrinking and all the laws are in favor of the tenants.

@Account Closed
If you're looking to connect with other NY investors, then you can find plenty of REI groups either via BP or meetup site. As a matter our group meeting is tomorrow. Even if you just want to connect with the folks investing locally, going to these meetups is your best bet.
@Holly Williams yep. A tenant could be evicted and stay in the unit for another 9 months! Crazy!

@Account Closed: Hey there. When everyone is running scared, it's a great time to invest, IF you have access to money and time to recoup. I'd be happy to meet for coffee when you're in the city. I'm on the upper east, but will travel for great coffee.

Good morning Anthony,
Its always good to see a fellow NYer getting involved on the forums.
When I first got on BP, I felt there weren't too many people in my market but once I started using all the great features on the site, I was proven wrong.
I highly recommend setting up keyword alerts so that you can be automatically updated once someone mentions a topic or town of interest.
Secondly, I would use the search feature to find local investors, newbies, and RE professionals. Not everyone actively posts on the open forums but there are TONS of people who are active in NY!
I hope this helps!
Abel
