Dual Agency Broker - good or bad?
Does anyone have experience working with a broker who represented you as the buyer (or seller) who also represented the other party on a purchase? Wondering the pros and cons of using this setup!

As an agent myself, I think there are a few key things to consider.
Do you trust your agent to have your best interest and not favor the other side? If not, maybe you shouldn’t work with that agent anyway, but definitely don’t do dual agency with them.
Are you confident handling a transaction without much advisement from an agent? Because know that their ability to advise you essentially goes away for the most part. Because they have too much confidential information from the other party. So asking things like “how can we make this a competitive offer” start to get in shady ground and their answers become limited.
Before I became an agent, I did one dual agency deal and it went fine. The agent brought us a pocket listing, was exactly what we wanted, and we went for it. No regrets.
You also get essentially nothing from it as the client except to make your agent happy. (Two commissions on one deal).
So I would overall say, if you have an agent you like and trust, go for it. If it’s your first deal or even first deal with this agent, maybe ask for another agent to be put on your side.
