Name something you've learned from someone on BiggerPockets (podcast, forums, blog, whatever) and tag the person from whom you learned it. Name as many people as you want, but please limit your posts to one-person-per-post.

I almost didn't respond to this thread out of fear I would forget mentioning someone important. I guarantee that I did, but in no particular order...

@Ola Dantis thanks for the mention. I do love to debate on the forums. I have actually found myself arguing both sides of an issue at different times. The only way to truly grow is to challenge your beliefs continuously. You are a positive thinker and continuous contributor, thanks!

@Thomas S is just a memory at this point, as we seem to have lost him this year. Although his sociopath behavior sometimes drove me nuts, he made me understand the difference between being a "hobby landlord" and a "business owner".

@Russell Brazil I have learned a ton and we have had a few laughs. Anything realtor related, I tag him and let him drop truth bombs.

@Steve Vaughan was one of the first people I connected with on here. So down to earth and wicked smart. Steve learned everything in the trenches and very humble. I bought a new car this year and as I signed the paperwork, I thought to myself, "Steve would not approve", haha.

@Mindy Jensen is a true asset to BiggerPockets and this forum community. She always stands behind her mods. Bringing her FI expertise to the Money Podcast has been great addition. It was great meeting you at the BP Conference!

@JD Martin is living proof that you don't need to syndicate 3000 doors to be successful in real estate. Maybe some day we can put an end to single family home shaming. Or start a support group. "My name is Joe and I only invest in single family homes."

@Jay Hinrichs I am continually surprised by all the experiences you share. You are a good reminder to me that, "I don't know what I don't know". I like it when you challenge my thinking, because odds are good I am wrong, haha.

@Ben Leybovich an old school BP classic with wisdom is all over the forums. I like that you drop in to the forums to add to the discussions. Others that have moved up the "real estate food chain" have long left the forums. Thanks for keeping it real.

@Jim K. I love talking DIY with you and I do appreciate your sense of humor. I am not sure anyone could stump you with a repair or remodel question.

@James Wise is a master in self promotion and managing large volumes of properties. Next time you ask, "how much damage can a bad tenant really do" make sure you ask James to share some photos. Also great work on the documentary and exposing bad actors in this business.

@Nathan Gesner great voice for property management related questions. I have learned lots of great tips and will use you as a sounding board any time I need credible advice. I really enjoyed meeting you at the BP conference and thanks for hanging with me!

@Shiloh Lundahl I love what you are doing with lease to own and how you have grown your business while pursuing a full time career. It hits home with me, the balance of career, investing and family. It was great meeting you at the BP conference and I always like reading your thoughts in the forums.

@Natalie Kolodij I love it when you weigh in on any CPA or tax question. It is always smart and practical advice. Taxes are a landlords largest expense and way too many landlords are hacking their way through without a clue.

@Joel Owens anything commercial related. I love learning about this aspect of real estate and you are always there to teach me.

@Will Barnard I have read great posts from you on a variety of subjects and love that you speak from experience. You set me straight a couple times and that is a good thing.

@Dennis M. I appreciate the humor although as a moderator you challenge my, "did he cross the line" decision making skills regularly.

@Steve K. the solar expert from Bolder, who I can't tag for some reason. We seem to think alike on topics and I always enjoy chatting with you.

@J Scott I am not sure what the secret is to tagging you. Great insight and great books. You are a true thinker and not just an information recycler.

@Ned Carey I love your down to earth responses and advice. You are one of the moderator power houses.

@Alexander Felice simply put "broke is a choice" and anyone who doesn't agree with that statement will never succeed financially. I was great meeting you at the BP Conference and I completely admire your social media skills. I hope your move is going well!

@Nicole A. fellow mod and strong female investor voice, always like your advice.

@Dawn Brenengen good realtor voice on the forums, strong female voice and fellow mod.

@Chris Mason anything lending related you always help clear it up. And thanks for being a fellow moderator.

@Greg H. I always trust your input in a discussion and thanks as a fellow moderator.

@Joshua D. none of this would be possible without your vision. Good luck on your new podcast and I will be sure to listen.

@Brandon Turner it would take me years to consume all the educational material you have produced. I love your books and the podcast, thanks!

@Ryan Murdock you are a power house! It was nice meeting you at the BP Conference on the elevator. I hope at the next conference we have more time to talk.

@Scott Trench here is the future success of BiggerPockets under your great leadership. It is always interesting to read your perspective on things in the forums.

I am thankful to be a part of this organization in my small role as a moderator. Again sorry for those people that I forgot to mention or had trouble finding as I tried to tag them.

This will be tough, I am leaving out LOTS of folks as I am bad with names:

@Marcia Maynard, an incredibly intelligent and kind lady, knows so much more about ADA issues and companion and service animal issues.

@Bill Gulley wicked smart on anything notes or liability, or anything.  I wish I knew a fraction of what he knows.  I always learned from anything he posted.

@Brandon Turner, it was an article he wrote that first led me to BP.  All of his interviews with what book to read have been priceless, I have read many thanks to him, and by watching him grow as an investor has helped me see how to mature as an investor as well.

@Steve Vaughan, @Bill S., and @Account Closed, have all taken the time to meet me in real life, if you will and just share company and dreams as a recharge from a life with no one to share my enthusiasm with.  All are kind, intelligent, and just fun to talk with.

@Nathan Gesnerhas given me great advice on managing rentals, as well as a sounding board, and companionship.  it is always a treat to share a cup of coffee and piece of pie with him.

@Account Closedextremely intelligent literally wrote the book on how to do the math and understand the numbers of real estate.  It was very intense, many parts had to be read 3 or 4 times to comprehend.  it was like trying to drink a shake that had 2,000 calories in it.  It was so rich it was hard to take it all in.

@Jay Hinrichs, has done it all and has great insights and shares so freely.

@Steven Hamilton II a wicked smart accountant, who has been able to accurately answer almost any question.

@Jean Bolger has shown me what true courage is.  She put her time and money where her mouth was.  great inspiration.

@Matt Faircloth and @Liz Faircloth have written great articles and shared a wealth of knowledge.

@Account Closed, super smart showed you could invest in CA and do great, and always a kind word.

@Mark Ferguson, who I tried to meet several times but our calendars would never cooperate.  Took massive action and wrote many blogs that inspired me, and was the first person to mention life coaching.  Something I tried years later much to my benefit.

@Brian Burke who inspired me by going from cop to mega investor one step at a time, great common sense.

@Shiloh Lundahl who got me into my mastermind group, thank you.  @JD Martin for his humor.

@Dave Van Horn for advice on notes, and common sense, like @Ned Carey who makes things look simple by using great logic.

@Jon Holdman, absolutely fearless on throwing the b*llsh*t flag on stupid posts that might provide bad advice.

It won't let me add more.

I would like to add @ben leybovich and @dawn Brenegen, but it won't let me.

Ben always said things I disagreed with, but always made me think.  I learned a lot in arguing with Ben.

    @Dawn

@Dawn Anastasiundefined who helped critique my first and very bad blog.

and @Ben Leybovich, I argued with Ben a lot and disagreed almost always, but I also always learned something.  there is nothing like an argument to truly make you think.  Thanks for your articles ben.

I don't know their screennames, but @sumi and @frankie for all the years spent at stankie meetings discussing passive income and real estate investing

@Chris Clothier and @memphis invest for taking care of me all these years

@AAPL for providing the $$$ in my ROTH-IRA so I could convert it to self-directed and invest in RE

@Thomas s (wherever he is) for sucking me into BP because I could not figure out what he meant by "dead equity"

@caleb heimsoth for being one of my first connections on BP

@Michael bishop for helping me diversify my syndication portfolio

@brian burke for providing so much insight into syndications

@mike dymski for being a sounding board and voice of reason

and last but certainly not least, @jay Hinrichs who has seen so much and shares so much...

I didn't read through all of these, but want to make sure @Jim K. gets a mention. He is a wealth of DIY information, and saved me 40+ hours and at least $2,500 with an offhand comment about a shower install. Now my shower looks like $1 Million, instead of the plumbing nightmare it had looked like for years. Pro Tip: Do NOT use PEX line on the tub spout... Go for the copper pipe.

Saving my thank-you to you for The Money Show, Mindy! I will have a story for you when we're ready, and you are a key player. I have you to thank for leading me to the FI movement.

I like your posts Brian :) However, you make a good point in that people are bound to fall through the cracks. For example, a couple of people I forgot to mention: @Mike H  who is impossible to tag and @Brandon Hall. And I'm sure if I hung around thinking for a while I'd add a lot more people. @Linda S for example (*you guys with initials, it's tough to tag you).

Not sure how to link someone, but Cody L. for sure.  He took time to answer tons of my dumb questions off this site and without him there would have been no way I could have done my first big deal.   Not sure if he's been mentioned yet but that's who'd get my vote.

@Yonah Weiss, I've been meaning to come back to this post for awhile.  Bigger Pockets has been very instrumental to me over the past few years.  I scrolled through some of my old messages and posts trying to recall the top help I received over the past four years since I first went on BP and started my real estate journey (in earnest).  If it weren't for BP, I'm not sure I could have become a co-sponsor on deals so quickly, raised capital for syndications, started my own side-hustle and podcast for military veterans, or gain the confidence and knowledge to become Director of Acquisitions for a Commercial Developer/Private Equity firm - essentially changing careers at age 48 after 25 years of NEVER working in real estate!!

@Thomas Rutkowski was instrumental in teaching me how to utilize life insurance policies to have money working in two places at once and how people can (eventually) be their own bank. He is an unusually-gifted financial advisor.

@George Blower taught me the benefits of opening a Solo 401K (which is awesome) and for utilization of Self-directed IRAs.

I learned a lot from @Theo Hicks, but that was originally via his role with Joe Fairless's podcast - they are both experts on Multi-Family syndication and taught me a lot.

For a myriad of topics at broad/high level (sanity check), @Jay Hinrichs has been great.

Some of the other most helpful people included: @Ann Bellamy and @Axel Ragnarsson (for NH related), @Tyler Kastelberg (underwriting expertise), @Dave Van Horn (Liens), @mario navarrete (financing), @greg dickerson (Development), and @j benoit (turnkey and wholesale).

Thanks to everyone for their help and to the founders of BP!
