Looking for a Mentor or Partner in the South/Southwest Suburbs — Ready to Learn & Tak

Hey BiggerPockets family,

I’ve been a fan of this community for a long time and have learned so much from the podcasts, reading ALL the books (so many of them), and the forums. But now I’m at that stage where reading and analyzing aren’t enough — I’m stuck in analysis paralysis and ready to finally take action.

I’m looking for a mentor or potential partner who’s active in the South or Southwest suburbs (could do downtown Chicago as well). Someone who’s willing to guide me or even work together on a small project — single-family or small multifamily — so I can learn the ropes by doing.

A little about me:

- I own my home but don’t have any investment properties yet.

- I have a small amount of capital and decent-ish credit.

- I’m not looking for someone to just “give” — I truly want to learn by contributing real effort and value.

- I have years of leasing experience and I am currently an assistant property manager/property accounting for a Luxury mid-rise in West Loop, Chicago.

- My long-term goal isn’t just financial freedom (though that’s a nice bonus!) — it’s about buying back my time and building a sustainable path forward.

If you’re someone who remembers what it felt like to be stuck on the sidelines and wants to help a motivated beginner take that first step, I’d love to connect. I’m 100% willing to do the hard work and take direction.

Thanks in advance, and looking forward to hearing from anyone open to chatting or collaborating!

I'll also be attending any networking events you all can recommend! I'm really tired of doubting myself, analysis paralysis, and sitting on the sidelines.

I would recommend going to the Chicago multifamily club, Windy City REI, and any NBOA events. If you’re looking for a mentor, Micah White (can’t seem to tag), can offer some assistance and he’s in Chicago. Are you planning on keeping your home? Are you willing to house hack?
