Cigarette smell in apartment units
Quick question to my friends of Biggerpockets , how to get rid of cigarette smell in your unit?? Any suggestions?? DIY?

I normally have to kiltz and paint ceilings after smokers leave. Also, I paint walls where necessary and that usually brings the place back to normal.
Some people have had good luck with ozone generators. You can rent them.

You may be able to get away with a soap and water scrub of the walls but the ceilings will need to be kiltzed and then painted to remove the yellowing the cigarette/dope smoke usually causes. Also if you have carpet, a carpet cleaning company can shampoo for a very reasonable price. In my area $100- $150 for 3 to 4 rooms.

Clean, paint, change the curtains and rugs. Try getting a duct cleaning if it’s affordable. Open windows. If all else fails get an air filter - a good one too.
@Trevor Neale in addition to everything else that's been said, buy an Ozone machine. They're great. You can get them on amazon under $100.

Ozone machines do a really good job with odors. I would highly recommend getting one @Trevor Neale
Kilz paint, ozone machines, filter/duct cleaning (depending on severity) and sometimes even changing out the carpet if there is any. Good luck & happy investing!
