Worn out carpet. Should I ask tenants to replace it?

We rented 1 year old house to our tenants and they lived for 2 years. Their lease ended on yesterday. They have excessively worn out carpet in a room. Its just not only the look but the carpet feels like floor. Its no longer soft. https://ibb.co/N2jW5F49. Is it reasonable for me to ask them to replace the carpet?

Nope. That looks like poor quality carpet / padding and is not the tenant's responsibility. Replace it with a better grade of carpet.
