how to remove PMI

Hey. So my husband and I bought our home in 2020. we currently have a PMI on our mortgage. we haven't reached the "20% equity" yet based on the price we bought the house for. Although all homes sold in the last year are selling for about 100k more give or take. Would it be a good idea to get an appraisal on our home to remove the PMI. Does anyone know the if it would even be possible?
