New Investor Looking to Make Connections/ Find a Mentor

Hello. My name is Michael and I am excited to start getting into small multi-family properties in the Cleveland/ Akron area. I'm 22 years old and want to start building my portfolio as soon as possible. I have access to the VA loan and want to use it to buy my first property and house hack. I've been looking for deals and listening to podcasts and videos trying to learn as much as I can, but I'm still too nervous to jump into my first deal. Hopefully I can find a mentor and make some connections on BP so I don't have to go into my first deal alone!

Welcome! House hacking is definitely a smart play. I'd recommend going to some local real estate meetups to network with other investors. By expanding your network, you're going to increase your likelihood of success - plus you need a realtor and lender anyway. In addition, youll want to build the rest of your team out (tradespeople, contractors, etc) and the best way is to ask other investors who they use in the local area.
