Property tax Write offs, 2 in same calender year?

Posted

2024 was the first year I rented out my first home. I made the property tax payments in full in January of 2024 for the 2023 year, and I made the 2024 property tax payment in 2024. Can I use both as an expense when filling out my schedule E? Property tax for this rental is about $2200 per year, and I am wondering if I can use $4400 as my expense considering I paid both in 2024.
