Access to Bank's portfolio of REO properties

Hi,

I recently connected with someone who has access to a bank's portfolio of REO properties (homes the bank has taken back through foreclosure). Through this relationship, I would be able to purchase these properties, sometimes even in large bundles.

My question is:
Is having access to someone like this considered a unique or “privileged” opportunity, or is it fairly common for investors to connect with brokers or individuals who can source REO inventory directly from banks?

I’m trying to understand whether this type of connection is something most investors can build over time, or if it’s more of a rare advantage.

Any insight from those with experience in bank-owned properties would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Eric
