Squatters in my home, what do I do?

I rented my home out to my tenants with a 6 month lease that became a month to month as the lease ended. The lease stated no visitors for over 2 weeks and no subleases.
Today my tenant is telling me sometime in Dec they let some friend stay with them for two weeks apparently attempting to charge him for the two weeks. The guy named Aaron moved in with his GF and kids and has refused to leave the house at all. They were not given a key but do not leave the home so they have not been locked out.
My tenant says she has given them an eviction serve but they still refuse to leave.
Tomorrow I am calling the sheriff to get more info. Has anyone had experience with this? or has any knowledge of my rights?
I sent my tenants a 30 day notice today.

@Karla Gil you will need to speak to an attorney who specializes in evictions. My gut tells me that your tenants are in on this. You will most likely need to go the whole way and evict. If this is the case, do not hesitate to complete the process. I just completed an eviction at one of my properties in the Chicago suburbs, and it was an expensive, frustrating process. The upside is that you limit the amount of pain you will experience if you follow through. Do not fall for sob stories. Do not grant extensions, etc. Just speak to an attorney and do what you need to do.

Hello Karla,
I am not up-to-date with current landlord-tenant law. However I do know historically Iowa has been a tricky state to navigate. https://whotv.com/2015/07/15/squatting-case-may-le...
It looks like you live in Des Moines. If you decide you need to seek legal council - My uncle is Mark Abendroth at Abendroth and Russell. They specialize in Landlord-Tenant law.

What an awful situation. Were you able to get them out?
