I am going to be moving to the outskirts or Salem in the next month. Specifically Gates, OR on the Santiam river. I would like to start digging into the Salem market and really begin to get some what of a grasp on it. Where are the best areas I see a tons of houses listed at a lower price point and it seems like a market that may be a good fit.
I am a portlandtonian since birth and am very familiar with it but i would like to start getting into my new local market. I know about the monthly NW REIA meeting but I don't know if there are any other resources out there or possibly some investors looking for someone to hang on their curtails and try and provide some value.
I'm educated and very intelligent and also have a knack for computers and customer relations. Just want to learn and jump in with both feet. And I make decent income with my current profession and have a great credit profile.
Salem is a great place to live! It's local government might be behind the curve a bit, but the culture of the city is changing and becoming rather trendy.
If you are looking for a good place to invest in Salem, I would look to east and south Salem for multifamily opportunity. If you are looking to flip or single family rentals I would look at central Salem, near downtown. Central Salem is, for the most part, the cheapest area in Salem to buy.
David has been awesome helping my wife and I buy our first home in Salem. So if you're looking for a real estate agent I would recommend @David VanSant .
