If You Restart Your Real Estate Journey, Where Would You Buy First?

In about a year and a half, I'm planning to get into real estate by buying a multifamily property and house hacking it. I plan on using my VA home loan for the purchase and living in the property for about a year. After that, my goal is to use the BRRRR strategy to build a large enough portfolio to eventually live off the income.

My question to you all is this...

If you had to go through your real estate journey again, what state would you choose? And if you have specific metro area recommendations, I’d love to hear them as well.

Thank you all for your help and advice, I’m looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say!

Buy a 2-4 unit.

You'll gain invaluable hands-on experience managing the other units "next door".

You can even experiment with MTR & STR for increased cashflow.
