Is It OK To Ask for Details About Collection

Raymond Kalonji
Posted

Hello,

I am using Zillow for credit and background check. One of my applicants credit report came back with a credit score above 700 but there is a collection item and it says they pay on-time 91% of the time. The only thing listed for the collection item is the name of a law firm that, from my online research, provides collection services. Is it ok to ask the applicant for more details about that collection item or should I make my decision based on what I have? If other checks come back clear, should I give them a chance since credit score is above 700?

Thanks in advance.
