Home warranty for renovated homes

Francis Bernadel
Posted
I’m supposed to close on a renovated duplex this month. I still haven’t visited the property yet (it’s 6+ hours away by car) since a few things are still incomplete and a confirmed closing date isn’t decided (only an expected one). I wanted to ask if home warranties are a good idea, regardless of how old or recently renovated a house is. I’ve been watching a lot of home inspections videos as of late. Some builders seem to get away with bad workmanship, leaving the homeowner with a bunch of issues they’d have to come out of packs to fix. Would obtaining a home warranty for the property stop this from happening? I’d love to hear what the BP community has to say about this topic. Side Note: I waived the inspection on the property. I mention this in case someone asks later like in previous post of mine. I’d like to focus on the topic in the title if possible.

Suppose I understand your post and additional comments correctly. In that case, a waiver of inspection for the purpose of accepting the offer does not necessarily preclude you from having an inspection done for your own knowledge.

I'd definitely get that done before you close.
