My Life & 1000 Houses Book Review

I have just finished reading a phenomenal book written my Mitch Stephen. I would highly recommend this book not only to real estate investors, but to anyone that is struggling to build a business.

Mitch’s personal journey is fascinating. You will find the words “Failing forward to financial freedom” on the cover of his book. He chronicles his journey of more than a decade during which he bought and sold more than 1000 houses. In his book he very willingly shares what he considers to be his “mistakes and his failures”. I prefer to call them “learning experiences”. Ultimately this journey brought him huge success both personally and financially.  Mitch is quick to point out that it took more than just hard work; integrity, a willingness to learn, his family and a strong faith were instrumental in his success.

The first part of the book is chronological and depicts the maturing of a young businessman. The second half of the book consists of 18 random stories about how Mitch actually built his business and became a successful real estate investor.

In My Life & 1000 Houses you can expect to see how someone went from buying his first house, to building his own “empire” of passive income and ultimately achieved financial freedom. I love this quote from the book that says, “Financial freedom happens when your wants exceed your needs”.

One thing you will surely learn from reading My Life & 1000 Houses is that for most people, success rarely comes easy. It will largely be your ability to persevere even under the most difficult of circumstances and setbacks that will bring you success. For anyone who’s been procrastinating or is in the middle of a struggle to become financially free, pick up a copy of this book and begin your own personal journey toward financial freedom. You can find it on Amazon.

  2.  I really enjoyed the book. I have done financing for years on automobiles and want to get into the real estate seller financing arena. ... and do it the right way. Mitch speaks from the heart and his experiences along the way he expresses throughout the book are awesome.

    Buy it.

  3. He sure knows how to make money, that's for sure Grant. I interviewed Mitch again on my blog a few months ago. You might want to check it out. He's always interesting. http://louisvillegalsrealestateblog.com/escaping-the-9-to-5-how-i-did-it-with-mitch-stephen

  4. I too HIGHLY recommend this book! I learned a lot from it. Mitch is a very honest and open person. He tells personal stories in this book that most people would not. I will be reading it again in the future. I especially loved the "thinking outside the box" story about the $1 option on the commercial property. Talk about pulling money out of thin air as you are just driving down the road! Genius!

  5. I recently did a recorded interview with Mitch. You can find it on my blog at http://LouisvilleGalsRealEstateBlog.com.

  6. My advice to all real estate investors-- grab a copy of the book! A lot of "real estate experts" only want to talk about how easy it was for them to make a lot of money in real estate. Mitch openly tells us about all of the roadblocks he hit along the way. He is also very upfront about what he considers to be "his mistakes". My Life & 1000 Houses paints a much more honest picture of what most of us go through building this business that we love.

  7. I loved this book!! I read it last year and couldn't put it down... autobiographical, educational and even humorous at times.

  8. I would often here stories from title companies about Mitch Stephen and Sam Madrid closing over a hundred of houses a month here in San Antonio so i was quite pleased when I saw Mitch had written a book. I went down to his office and bought a copy directly from him, "Wealth Comes from Chaos" is what he wrote on the inside of the cover. Great book, serious investor.
