Ever have a frazzled morning? Of course, you have - we all have those mornings of utter chaos. And what happens when you get into the office? The chaos seems to just continue right through the rest of the morning and lunch. You’re lucky if it doesn’t last until the time you go to bed.

Many times, the reason people have such bad days on a regular basis is because of crazy mornings. Those crazy mornings are usually because they lack a routine.

Things get chaotic when they are all over the place. That’s what makes them crazy.

Having a morning routine calms things down because you know what you need to do and when you need to do it. By the time you leave the house, you’re all set for a productive and successful day.

During these times, we may not all be leaving the house to go to work but we should STILL keep healthy and productive habits.

Having better days isn’t the only reason morning routines are important. The following are other benefits of implementing them.

Saves Time

The reason you may not have much time in the morning is because you don’t have a routine. When you do what you need to do with a routine, you’ll find that you don’t need to go back and forth so much, which saves time. 

Get up at least 60 minutes earlier than you need to so that you can map out the day ahead and NOT 'figure it out' as you go along.

Boosts Self-Confidence

When you don’t have yourself together with a routine, you don’t feel very good about yourself. When you don’t feel good about yourself, you can end up carrying that over to your work. This can affect how you come across to clients, partners or prospects.

On the flip side, if you start off with a powerful morning, you feel in control of the day's tasks. You're not as worried about the results or lack of results because you know you're following the plan you've laid out for yourself.

Allows You To Do What You Want To Do

Many people wake up feeling hungry but don’t eat breakfast because they don’t think they can fit it into their morning. However, if they had a morning routine, they could find a way to incorporate that into it. This not only makes them feel good that they’ve been able to have breakfast, but it’s healthy.

Makes Other People Happy

If you’re a parent, you know how it can be trying to get children ready for school. With a morning routine, you won’t be so anxious and frustrated, so your children won’t be upset as well. You will get yourself and your children ready for a good day.

Create a Morning Routine

Many of you reading this right now are thinking, “There’s no way I could have a morning routine. It’s just too crazy in my house.” Everyone can have a morning routine. It’s just a plan to follow in the mornings. Come up with a list of things you want to do every morning. When you have that, start giving each thing a time that it will take for you to complete that task. Place those tasks onto a schedule starting with your wake up time. If you have to adjust your wake up time, that’s okay - just be sure to adjust your bedtime. Once you have your schedule, you can adjust it as necessary.

Give your new or improved morning routine a try for a couple of weeks. You’ll likely be surprised by how beneficial it is to your mental health, physical health and career.
