Shelby Farms - One More Reason to Love Memphis
A beautiful summer afternoon at Shelby Farms in Memphis TN and a leisurely walk around Patriot Lake.
What was once a “pretty-good” lake in one of the largest urban parks in the nation, has recently been totally renovated. It has more than doubled in size allowing for many more activities, including kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing or just lazily drifting along and watching the ducks.
The path around the lake is paved and perfect for strolling, running or biking, but if you just want to relax there are plenty of benches and swings along the way there is and event center (sponsored by FedEx), an open-air stage, and a restaurant (The Kitchen, American Bistro) on the shores so it is entirely possible to spend your entire day at Patriot Lake.
But that’s just the Lake. With over 4,500 acres of green space and more to do than you could imagine, Shelby Farms Park is a true treasure. It is the perfect place to head out to exercise or to just kick back and relax with your friends and family. In the midst of our busy city, this one-of-a-kind urban park is an oasis just calling us to get away from the hustle and bustle and escape in its breathtaking green expanse.
