Hey guys! I'm in Redding CA and just bought a duplex. I'm trying to find a good credit card for about 10k of renovations. To get a higher limit, do I need to start a business or how have people funded minor renovations on credit cards?

I got a 0 APR credit card. I was able to put 40k on it and finish our rehab before the time was up to have to start paying it. Sometimes if you just call in, they will up your limit so you can put more on it.

Thanks for that too. I wasn't sure because I got turned down from a bump up from US Bank which doesn't make sense with my credit score and income.

Why bother with starting a business?  Just get personal cards or are you trying to "hide" in case you default?

Normally, if you apply for a business credit card they will ask for proof of the business' formation or registration.  Just try to apply ... they will check.

As with anything, for higher limites, i.e. credit, you'll need a higher credit score and declare higher annual income...

Good luck.

I was just wondering if you needed a business for the higher limits. I have a great credit score and got a card that I thought should work but they wouldn't raise my limit at all.

Request a balance transfer on your credit cards and if you are going to use two or more please call them on the same day.

Thanks... I think that's the mistake I made. I didn't ask for balance transfer so I went for a card through US Bank and they gave me a 500 dollar limit and wouldn't raise it. Plus I have a high credit score.

Hey everybody,

I'm new to BP, but have read a few books and am looking to invest in the far Northern California area. Is there anyone else out there in my area?
