I have relatives with units in California and read their landlord newsletters.  Landlords need to work together to oppose unfair laws.

This is why honest people who understand economics need to run for office.  This is why I am running for office and am taking a pay cut to do so.  Having never served in the military, it's my chance to give back.

On-site management?! Dafuq.

That’s ridiculous, are Californian’s innately whiny or something?

If you look around in Gaithersburg/Wheaton/Silver Spring you’ll know why it’s a blue state.

Don’t let the most recent Governatorial election fool you. That was a one-off situation for sure. And also a result of the last Governor being a goofball (met him personally).

Yeah, it’s frustrating to deal with as a landlord but you gotta know to screen out tenants who use more than 4-squares of 2-ply. Are you sure its not 3-ply? I hear Charmin Soft doesn’t clog as easily as Charmin Ultrastrong. From one landlord to a toiletlord, it’s called toilet paper for a reason. Also subscribe them on Amazon Prime to metamucil for good measure.

It's a very unique city in that all property goes from at best, Class B during the daytime to a Class D at sunset, haha.

Only joking. Good luck!

I want to live in one and rent the other 2. So gross would be like 2150 or so. Should I go for it? I'd almost live for free..

I'm putting down 3%

Live in one, rent the other 2...or 3? (4plex, not a triplex, right?)

Seems like a solid house hack. Make sure you got some reserves in case you need to spend a little to fix it up.

I saw on another thread that in CHICAGO you have to put the security deposit in a separate account and mail them the interest annually.  So on a $1000 security deposit if you don't mail them their .05% percent ($5) yearly, you are liable for 3x the security deposit.

Yes, if you don't mail them their $5 check, you owe them $3000. Completely absurd!

I believe Connecticut may be similar situation but don’t need to pay interest out annually.

I recall I had an issue where my landlord was out of the country for an extended stay and did not return my security deposit with interest within 30 days of my move out. I was owed 2x + interest. I was getting ready to go to small claims but their son finally paid up the initial deposit so I let the rest slide. My security deposit was $2800, so they would have owed me a little over $5600.
