Hi There, I'm in Colorado. I own an apartemtn on a college campus. I rented to 2 very nice Chinese girls. They had a year lease and went back to China for the summer. It's coming up on the end of the month and the end of their lease and I can't get in touch with them. They left all their stuff in the apartment. Their last rent check (which we were holding, they paid for the entire summer ahead of time) bounced. And they didn't pay the electric so it's shut off. Their lease does not automatically renew, so end of the month the apartment is no longer theirs. My issue is, what to do with all their stuff? What's the right thing to do with it? My new tenants would love to move to a furnished apartment (even though it's really just two beds and a couch). If they show up and take it--great! If not, then is it just considered abandoned and I own it? I'm trying to get a lawyer to help, but this is small potatoes and having a hard time getting one interested. Oh and I have another tenant all set to move in on the 1st. No pressure. Thanks!
