I didn't even think of the property line thing...I would be in the same boat as I'm on a narrow lot so I would want it as close to the property line as I can...Who should I call to start this process? 

I am wanting to build and Garage with an apartment above it at my home in Ypsilanti, MI.  I was told that this is not allowed in Michigan by a friend.  Just wondering if anyone knows if this is true or not?  Any other tips on building something like this?

I am a 2-time house hacker in Ypsilanti, MI. I am recently married and we are loving the house hack!! They pay all our bills and we just stack the cash!  Anyway, my question is regarding house hacking and children.  We found out that we will be having a kid next July and are not sure if having roommates will still be a good idea. Just want to get some thoughts on this from personal experiences.  We trust the roommates and I'm sure part of it would be if they're willing to deal with the crying lol.

This is a great cashflow deal in Ypsi!  It is currently vacant and will need some small updates to get top rents.  Rents in this area could be as high as $1,500mo!! 

@Phillip Dougher This is good to know as I was unaware of EMU suffering from low enrolment.  This house did not work out as Ypsi would not give us a CofO on this.  A side note is all 6 people living there are professionals.  I have 2 young professionals in my home near Downtown Ypsi as well.
