@Shawn Mcenteer

I think I am in a very similar position as you were. I’ve worked enough to pay for my first two years, and now have about $20,000 saved up. Trying to decide if I want to put that money into my next two years of school or into real estate. My plan right now is to take a gap year and continue to add to my capital. Then I should have a good amount saved up, in which I can use to house hack the last two years of school. Maybe even enough to buy an extra rental, if I continue to work while going to school. Thanks for the response!

@Ian Walsh

Yeah my plan is to still get a 4 year degree, but might take a year off after I finish my 2 year at the Community College I’m currently at. Might get my license during that time to see if I enjoy it. Thanks for the response!

@Craig Curelop

Hey Craig!

Thanks for the response. I actually just listened to your podcast on BiggerPockets about house hacking yesterday! I’m planning on making a good amount of capital through work this year, and then hopefully house hacking for my junior year of college next year.

Take care,

Aidan McGee

Hello BiggerPockets!

My name is Aidan McGee, and I am from the Madison Area of Wisconsin. I currently attend Madison Area Technical College, and work full time on the horticulture team at Epic! I have recently got into the topic of investing, and it excites me much more than normal schooling ever could. I have read tons of books by Brandon Turner and BiggerPockets, as well as many by Robert Kiyosaki. I love the environment that BiggerPockets has created, so I had to join! I’m new to the game, so I’m sure I’ll be posting discussions with questions and controversial topics regarding RE. I’m excited to start this journey to long term financial wealth!

Hello BiggerPockets!

I’m currently a 20 year old student, and have a real interest in the long term wealth building that real estate has to offer. I have read almost all BiggerPockets books, and a bunch by Robert Kiyosaki as well. I am in a position that I’m sure many of you were also in at my age. I am currently unsure of what I want to get my 4 year degree in or if I want to switch to going to school to be a Real estate agent or Broker. With this post I am looking for some advice on the pros and cons of becoming a real estate agent/broker, and the benefits it has had for people in their investing careers. I would love any information or advice you guys have to offer!
Thank you, Aidan McGee
