An alternative response to this would be to go and have a conversation with him.

A. He felt disrespected when you chose to break HOA rules. To you the property is a house. To him it is a home. Your property is a threat to his privacy and security.

B. You felt disrespected because he’s going out of his way to persuade renters to leave knowing that is losing you money.

You’re both valid I’m your opinions. However, you breaking an agreement trumps being angry that someone was acting like a hall monitor.

Maybe if you walk over there and ask him what’s up you can have a conversation and come to an agreement yourselves rather than making a drastic decision like selling the property

@Joe Martella He is making the reader aware that the person communicating with guests is using his position of authority to manipulate the outcome. The reader then has the full information necessary to post a response.
