Hey all,
I have posted an intro to myself in a different forum previously; however, I am a Mechanical Engineering major in college, and I plan to graduate in December of 2023. I want to be prepared when I graduate to start growing my portfolio and working a job that I love and not just a job that "pays the bills." I have had an internship this past summer, and they have offered me full-time employment, but I do need to graduate first of course, so I will more than likely have a W-2 opportunity when I graduate. Although this is great, I enjoy posting workout content and training other people, along with real estate investing of course, and I did not find fulfillment in this internship like I do when posting content for working out and learning about rental properties.
Currently, I have been listening to BP podcasts and other podcasts to gain as much knowledge as I can before I graduate; however, I would like to do more than that. If anyone has an opportunity in which I can learn more or even gain some actual experience with real estate investing/real estate in general, then I would love to connect. Even if you don't have an opportunity personally, I would love any advice that you all may have if you have experience in investing and gaining that "financial freedom" through real estate.
Thank you all in advance!

@Andrew Simms Seems as the house-hacking strategy is the way to go, so thank you for the advice! I would definitely love to connect and talk real estate/engineering.

@Michael Dumler thank you, and yes I can definitely relate to those long nights of lab reports and assignments. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and offering some knowledge that you wish you had known when you were out of college! I think I will definitely do the house-hacking method out of college for a good start to my portfolio.

@MarshallLeip Thank you so much man! The amount of value and help this provided for me is way above what I expected, so I want to thank you for taking the time to respond to my post.
I'll definitely continue to live frugally because you are right... live broke while you can! My parents are extremely helpful with college because they do not want me to graduate with college loan debt, so I am beyond grateful for that, and I think this will really help me get started ASAP in the real estate market. Thank you again, this really defines some steps for me to take for my future and cleared up some uncertainties.

Hey all!
First time posting on the Bigger Pockets forums, but I have been listening to the Bigger Pockets Podcast all the time when I am in the car and have become really interested and passionate about real estate.
I am currently in college as a junior majoring in Mechanical Engineering with about 3 semesters left of school, and I always hear professionals saying that investing in real estate and putting your money to work is a very wise idea. I really want to get started on this; however, my funds are fairly low due to being in college and only being able to work about 2 days a week during the semester at a grocery store. If anyone has any tips or is was in a similar situation that could share with me the best way to get started or at least prepare for when I do graduate, that would be amazing!
Thank you!
