@Nick Jasinski, if you haven't already I'd suggest speaking to a great local mortgage broker. I'm happy to refer you to who I used, who is fantastic. I am currently house hacking a 3-family on the north shore of Boston and did it with an FHA loan. There are some additional challenges specific to doing FHA for 3-4 units, such as the self-sufficiency test which can be hard to make the numbers work for in the Greater Boston area. I had to contest my rental appraisal to get over that hurdle, which is a long story. I'm an agent and very familiar with the multi-family market around Boston, happy to chat.

@David Cahill I'm new to investing, just joined this site and am interested in multi families in Dorchester.  I lived in Dorchester last year and have witnessed the growth in the area first hand!  If you wouldn't mind sharing any info you have, I'd love to take a look.  Glad to be on this site and see an active Boston community here!

Greetings everyone!

I recently found BiggerPockets and am glad to join this community.  My goal is to invest in my first multi family.  A little about me... I'm a Massachusetts Licensed Real Estate Agent, and have worked as a full time sales & rental agent in Cambridge (completing deals in Boston, Cambridge and Somerville) and for a Boston area commercial real estate company handling leasing, property management, and financial analysis.  Prior to Real Estate, I worked as a Senior Financial Analyst and also was a Partner at a small sports marketing agency.  I was born in Boston - love the city and surrounding areas!

In terms of neighborhoods, I've been looking for deals specifically in Dorchester and Medford (both places I've lived and am familiar with). Dorchester seems to be a 'hot' area for investors, buyers, and renters and I believe is going to continue to undergo positive changes for the foreseeable future. As a renter, I found it to be the best value while still being close to the (red line) T. It does seem like many of the multi family listings on MLS are pretty low on the cash flow ROI.

In my limited time on the site I've found a ton of great resources on this site and in the community.  I look forward to becoming more involved and networking with others.  Feel free to reach out with any thoughts, questions, or advice!
