Quote from @Bill B.:
Find out your HOA's deductible (In my situation it's $25k). So you insure from the studs in as regular insurance and add a policy rider for $25k to cover that deductible. If the agent you're talking to doesn't understand the process, move on. I've used State Farm and allstate. They were both very cheap as they're only covering a very small portion of the property.
I pay about $330 for a $700k townhome on Lake MTKA in MN with a $25k Hoa deductible, $2,500 personal deductible, $300/300k liability.
Thank you for the response Bill!
Hi Biggerpocket family,
I am asking for recommendations for landord insurance company. The condo is in a gated communty and the outside dwelling is insured by HOA. I need for inside only DP1 or DP3. I called my car insurance, but they do only tenant insurance. I would appriciate valuable recommendations !
Thanks and Happy Valentines Day!
