Josh,

Thanks for your input. To answer your question, we do not expect to make huge bucks with this, but we are already 100% set up for construction and real estate. Ideally we would like to find an investor or two who can keep us busy and pay the bills. Once we get that we will move on to investing ourselves. We have a modest lifestyle that we would like to keep and hopefully build on. Just trying to make a living, I guess. If you know of anyone who needs us in the Memphis area send them our way...

I apologize if I was short on the last post. As an agent, we do get cut out of the deal a lot. Used and abused. I know it comes with the territory. I just hope that everyone will eventually realize that Realtors are good people trying to make a living too. That's all. Congrats on getting the deal done! Best of luck!

Hi, what type of services are you looking for? I run a property management company in Memphis. We can handle finding property, rehabbing, maintenance and tenants. I am the real estate side and my husband is a general contractor/handyman. We have a staff ready and willing to assist you with any needs. And because we are a small family owned business we are able to keep cost down.

Let me know if we can be of service to you!

Amanda

Why would you want to cut out the agent? The agent will not charge you a penny as the buyer. Most listing agreements signed by a lender would have a clause that would still hold the lender liable for the commission on the sale for a period of time, even if the house was taken off the market. Now the agent might go ahead and release the listing, but why would he/she? Remember agents have to make a living too. If you are worried about the 5% commission the bank is paying then it probably is not that good of a deal anyways.

Josh,
Thank you for your reply. What a wonderful site you have built here!
Our long term goal is to invest personally, but until then we have set up a business of property management of sorts. We have the ability find, repair, and maintenance investment properties to other already active investors. We do have the ability to invest right now, but need to get over the fear first. We have for years earned our living from real estate but with the market change have suffered financially this past year. I would really like to start with this part of the REI world to help build up savings again. Once we feel safe again we will start investing ourselves. We do love the real estate business both in sales and construction and love being self employed. I feel like we are set up with most everything we need to start investing just need the help of fellow investors.

Thanks,
Amanda

Hi everyone! My name is Amanda Harris from the Memphis and North Mississippi area. My husband and I own a home improvement company and I am also a licensed REALTOR in both Tennessee and Mississippi. I also have a degree in Business Finance. I ran across this website and decided to join in hopes of networking with other REALTORS, investor needing an agent or contractor, or an investor looking for a partner in Memphis. We also plan on investing ourselves in the future. My husband has 14 years experience as a builder, but with the market in our area we had to re-direct our business. We hope to start our own investing company and have everything in house from the purchase to the repairs, but we need to get our cash flow up. Any advise on how to get started either networking in the real estate or contractor areas of this website or starting our own investment company would be greatly appreciated.
