Congrats @J. Martin - your story is quite inspiring to me as I also have a goal to work for myself and quit the W2 job sooner rather than later. I hope to make it to you meet up in SF this week to hear more. Thanks!

@aliboone I'm not sure if winters in Cali could get any better especially after snowmaggedon in Boston last year! I couldn't help but laugh at friends/family continuously digging themselves out :)

You're 100% on point with SF market - I am absolutely interested in out of state purchases and intend to add that avenue as I build my plan. Really cool website you have going with hipsterinvestments - more great info for me to learn from in addition to BP.

@daviderjavec thank you for the welcome and the info on meets up, specifically with out of state opportunities. As I build my foundational knowledge and find my second investment I'm sure I will have questions. Look forward to strategizing more and crossing paths at a meet up.

@albertzheng right back at you with the welcome! Best of luck with you investment journey too!

@chrism of course I don't love the HOA but so far we've had pretty good luck (knock on wood) new roof, water heater, and appliances were put in before I purchased the unit :)

@johnbarnette Thanks for the welcome, I sincerely love this city and know it's where I'm meant to be!

@marknolan will do!

Happy Sunday BiggerPockets Community!

I recently found this site and am truly excited to interact with everyone, expand my knowledge and gain experience in real estate investing.

My intention for 2016 is to buy my 2nd rental property (maybe 3rd and 4th, optimist here) and begin to better understand the ins and outs of the real estate market. I actually fell into the rental market after purchasing and renovating a South Boston condo only to be transferred to San Francisco for my job 3 months after completing it. Now I have a rental property on the east coast while living on the west coast. Living in the most expensive and incredible city in the US has it's pros and cons. I plan to figure out how to continue investing in real estate despite the SF market challenges and I hope to do so by picking up a tips/tricks from the BP community.

My end goal is to develop a passion for real estate and increase my cash flow so I have the option to leave my corporate job to work for myself.

Cheers,

Ashley

Great quote Adam,

I lived in Austin for a couple years from 2009-2011, it's such a fantastic city and seems like a great place for real estate with the high growth.

Best of luck!
