That would be a very risky move, you would have a very high debt to equity ratio. So I would be very careful if you decided to to that. If you decided too, refi the duplex. Get around 20k or whatever you need out and use that as a down payment for a mortgage to purchase the 3unit

@Rijm D. I believe you can find better deals that won't force you to draw all your money right away. I got my first HELOC and only pay interest for on every dollar that I withdrawal

Hello all, I’m looking for a new place to live in 6 moths or so and I’m not sure if I should buy a condo/small home or rent an apartment and save the money that would have been used for a down payment for other real estate ventures?
