I mostly agree with what Mr. Holden is saying,
I personally see what's happening now as nothing less than investment and mortgage companies that have completely run amuck with their irresponsible lending practices during the boom, now they're in jam so Bernanke and Paulson are socializing their debt and bailing out their buddies on wall street with almost $800b dollar of taxpayer's money. I personally don"t think we should bail them out, let them fail. It won't be pretty but history has show it's the only way to purge the excess. Didn't we learn anything from Japan when they tried to prop of their economy this way 20 years ago? In the end, all this government intervention is just prolonging things.

Greetings everyone,
My name is Christopher and first I'd like to thank all the knowledgeable people that contribute to these forums. Your contributions are a great resource for newbies such as myself.
The recent declines in home prices and high foreclosure rates in this market have given me reason to think that the next coming months (if not years) will present good opportunities to smart investors to profit handsomely from buying properties "at the bottom of the market". But I'm admittedly a neophyte so that my be a naive thing to say.
At this stage, I'm really just trying to educate myself about the RE business and this specific market, but the area of interest for me is SFRs, condos and/or multis that I could purchase at deep discounts to buy and hold and rent out. Any guidance or advice anyone could offer to help break into this area and the Vegas market in particular, would be invaluable to a beginner like myself. I look forward to hearing and networking with my fellow members here.
Sincerely,
Christopher D. Thompson
