I'd say you made the right call. I've spoken with a local realtor who invests, and with home I have acquaintance outside real estate, and one of the tips he gave me is "would you live in this property if your family fit here?" (Obviously, my family of 6 wouldn't fit in a 1 br, for instance... so think back to when I was newlywed).
I have my wife check out potential properties and give me her "mom vibes" to help fill in this part. Where I feel safe and where she feels safe don't always match up!

I've been looking at avail and rentdrop as I'm getting ready to start my investing adventure... I'll have to check out some of these others too.
Does anybody have experience with rentdrop? I have yet to even find any reviews.

Please forgive me if this is obvious and my searches were just trash.
I'm in the learning phase, so I'm just running numbers for on-list stuff. How do you handle deals like this that have multiple properties? Do you figure expenses, taxes and whatnot separately and just plug the bulk answers into the calculator?

Absolutely, I'm actually needing to get up there to talk to a local business about sponsoring my other business endeavor!

Hey everyone! New to the idea that I'd even have a shot at REI.
Currently I work in IT at a rural K-12 school in northern Indiana and coach a couple of athletic teams. It's very fulfilling, but leaves a lot to be desired financially. Completing 75 Hard last Autumn started me on the path of reading for personal development, instead of just consuming fiction, and coming across Rich Dad, Poor Dad made me realize how through I am with the Rat Race.
After that, I've been consuming books for the past couple weeks trying to wrap my head around how to get where I want to go. It's looking like syndicate investments in multifamily will be it, but I certainly feel underwater trying to absorb all the info I need.
I really appreciate the experience and resources available here at BP for free, and will try to dig deep with the search function before asking the same newbie question that's been answered thousands of times before (big problem I always see in tech forums). I'm sure that I'll end up annoying a few folks, and probably end up reaching out to several for coaching along the way!
