Thank you, @Jason Dobbins. I currently own Marriott and that's what I would buy, if I can get a prime week (or time period) cheap enough. At least that's what I'm considering. I likely wouldn't buy anything but Marriott.

@Jason Dobbins, thank you for your note. I know how cheap you can buy a timeshare........mainly because I own one and know that I can't even sell it......I could only 'give it away.' And the fact that they can be purchased so cheaply is what made me think of this strategy. Now I'm exploring to see if it can provide a worthwhile return. Thanks to you and the others who have responded, I'm learning! Thank you.

@Michael Baum, thank you for your input. The location I'm thinking of has a couple weeks during the year not too dissimilar to CES in Vegas.

Thanks, @Paul Sandhu. Could you clarify your comment about 'leasing a place for 12 months?' What is that and how would I go about it?
I love the idea, but need to fill some knowledge gaps.

Thank you, @Julie McCoy. My thought was that since you can buy them for next to nothing (in many cases), that essentially my only costs would be the annual maintenance fees.
