@Jamiel Strickland

Thanks man, I’m working on getting an offer accepted now and was curious about how we would work out parking with one driveway.

For this property the tenants in the bottom unit already know I’m the buyer since I had to see the unit before submitting an offer.

Is your property one with only one furnace?

@Salliece McCain

Thank you so much for the advice. I just really want this to be a good experience for the time that I’ll be occupying the home.

Hello All,

I'm analyzing multiple duplex properties in the Detroit Market (Bagley & East English neighborhoods) to house hack with FHA. I will be buying fairly soon and I would like advice on the landlord aspect of this strategy.

1. If I am choosing not to hire a property manager what are some ways to add layers between me and the tenant?

2. What are some screening best practices outside of the typical rent requirements ?

3. Any other important things to be mindful of since I will be living above or below tenant?

Open to all responses as I am a first time landlord!
